Can I make a Hamilton reference in every blog post? Maybe…..
Goodbyes are hard. Especially for someone as emotional as I am. I cry at the drop of a hat. I have shed a lot of tears this past month as I said several goodbyes.
First, I had to say goodbye to my work and my coworkers. I had the best part-time job that a college student could ask for at the best pizza place with the best people. Seriously. I was so lucky to get to know all the people I did while working there. I also learned a lot – about food, wine, and myself. Then I had to say goodbye to my three best friends. That was even harder. We had a nice dinner out and went for ice cream. Leaving them was hard. I cried for a good part of the three-hour drive home.
I said goodbye to my dad this past week, which was pretty teary. I love my dad a lot and we always have a fun and laugh-filled time together. My dad also has Vols football season tickets, so I’m used to seeing him almost every weekend in the fall. It will be weird to not see him so often and not go to football games (even though I’m not the biggest football fan).
Tomorrow, I will have to say goodbye to my mom, my aunt, my uncle, and my dog. My mom and I drove to Massachusetts over the past three days to drop my dog off at my aunt and uncle’s house. They are keeping her while I’m in Ireland. It’s been nice to have this uninterrupted time with my mom and with Rosie, my dog. These are probably my two hardest goodbyes. My mom and I are really close. And I am SUPER attached to my dog. I rescued her a little over a year ago from the shelter and it has really been the best year of my life. She is my little (or not-so-little, she’s 70 lbs) furry soul mate. I can't imagine not sleeping with her next to me every night or seeing her little dance she does when she gets fed.
I know I’ll talk to these people while I’m gone. My friends, parents, and I will chat and keep in touch and I can video chat with my aunt to see Rosie. But it’s just not the same as being with them. Or just being three hours from them.
To keep in touch, I’ll be using WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, so feel free to message me on either of those apps! And, of course, I will be updating my blog. I’m setting a goal of posting every week, so we will see how that goes! My next post will be from Dublin!
Until next time,
