I am beyond excited to be studying abroad in Dublin, Ireland at University College Dublin this fall! September 2 can't come fast enough.
As excited as I am, though, I am still so nervous. If you know me, you know that I am a naturally very anxious person about almost everything. This is no different. There are so many little moving pieces and things that are just slightly different that are making me anxious. For example, class (or module) registration is done much later at UCD than here in the US, so I haven't registered for classes. And it's June. I would have registered for my fall classes in March at UT. I know in my head that it's totally normal and okay, but I can't seem to get that point across to my body.
I'm also super nervous about packing. I tend to be an overpacker and I have so much stuff. I've looked at packing lists and read blogs and suggestions on the internet, but I'm still nervous about fitting four months of clothes into what I can carry on to the plane. I'm really hoping just to have one checked bag, so I don't have to pay a baggage fee. Anyone have any tips, tricks, or suggestions?
Honestly, any advice about anything regarding study abroad would be helpful, particularly if you also studied abroad in Ireland.
I don't want to come across as too neurotic. I'm definitely a lot more excited than I am nervous about anything. But it just seems so far away. I feel like June moved at a snail's pace. Mostly because.... adventure awaits!
Well, I think that's about all I have for this first blog post.
Until next time,
